About 1971 I was finishing up my college degree and working a full time job. Needless to say I didn't have much "me" time. When they were passing out our diplomas I told the powers that be That I couldn't attend the ceremony. I was told that there would be no exceptions, that I mus attend. When asked why not attend, I said that I would be at work. Where are you working, I was asked. Mexico City was my response. I got my sheepskin in the mail.
My wife met a gal and she thought that I would get along with her husband. She said he was from either Germany or England. "What's his name?", I asked. Angus was the reply. I told my wife that I was going out on a limb by thinking he wasn't German.
Angus was a self starter. He was an addressing machine salesman. He knew I spent eight years in the Navy and knew my way around Hong Kong. He was particularly interested in the Hong Kong tailoring business. How much is a hand tailored suit over there. Thirty bucks, three custom made shirts $10 shoes were $15. He said we could make a fortune selling custom made clothes. I told Angus that I did know some tailors but didn't know their address. This was long before the internet and Google.
The very next day Angus produced the pink page telephone directory Hong Kong's version of the Yellow Pages and sure enough all of the tailors were listed. We wrote them letters requesting style books and material sample books. One week later, we were in the custom tailored clothing business.
